Representation - Choosing Voices for my Radio Show

When thinking about the people I will get to read for each character on my radio station, I need to think about representation. I will need to consider the age and gender of each actor, as well as thinking about pronunciation and tone of voice.

Below is a list of some of the characters on my show and a description of how I want them to sound, alongside the name of the person I think is most appropriate to read for that character:

Alicia (presenter 1) - Me
  • Female
  • Younger voice
  • A voice that isn't too formal 
  • Happy, bubbly and excited voice
Will (presenter 2) - Niall
  • Male 
  • Younger voice 
  • A voice that isn't too formal 
  • Happy, bubbly and excited voice 
Advert 1 (Made in Chelsea Album) - Voiceover - Alex
  • Male 
  • Enthusiastic voice 
  • Younger voice 
Advert 2 (Dog's Trust) - Voiceover - Alex (but more serious than the previous advert)
  • Male 
  • Serious voice 
  • Middle aged voice 
Hannah Myers (News Presenter) - Jade
  • Female
  • Formal and serious voice 
  • Middle-aged voice (or definitely older than the show presenters)
Advert 3 (Ocado) - Mum - Louise
  • Female 
  • Middle aged voice 
  • Stressed and everything said in a rush 
Voiceover - Chris
  • Male 
  • Friendly and helpful voice 
School Receptionist (on phone) - Alma
  • Female 
  • Middle aged voice 
  • Official voice
